Give the Gift of Education
Together, you can provide boys with life-changing opportunities.
Year Group Bursary Program
Providing needs-based access to BGS has been central to the School’s ethos since its founding in 1868, ensuring the School remains accessible, socially responsive and reflective of the broader community it serves. Bursaries are not only an investment in individual students, but in the collective strength, diversity and character of the learning environment—enriching the experience of all boys and reinforcing a culture of contribution, responsibility and service. As a strategic priority, BGS is working toward the ambitious goal of enabling up to 10 per cent of the student population—eventually 200 boys—to receive some form of needs-based bursarial support. To realise this commitment, the School is building a $100 million endowment fund to secure the long-term sustainability of bursaries and create enduring opportunity for generations to come.
Since 2017, donations to Year Group Bursaries have been invested in the BGS Bursary Fund, which operates as a perpetual endowment with capital maintained in perpetuity. Managed by the Queensland Investment Corporation (QIC), the Fund preserves and grows invested capital over the long term, with income generated from these investments distributed in accordance with Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR) guidelines to provide needs-based bursaries. This structure ensures responsible stewardship of donor contributions, long-term growth of the Fund and sustainable support for future generations of students. Donors recognised on Year Group Bursary pages include Old Boys supporting their peer year cohorts and parents who have made voluntary contributions, with information reflecting giving data from 2017 to the present. Every gift strengthens the Fund’s capacity to provide transformative educational opportunity, helping ensure that a BGS education remains accessible to talented boys regardless of financial circumstance—today and for generations to come.
Pay it forward - pass on the privilege and opportunity of a BGS education to another boy.
*All gifts, regardless of size, make a difference and are tax deductible.
